Living in a home with hard water has its challenges. When you’re taking a shower, your soap might not lather very well, which is very frustrating. The minerals in the water could also lead to a buildup in your pipes or in your water heater. One positive side effect however is that drinking hard water does have some health benefits since it contains a lot of minerals.
So what can you do to soften your water? There are treatment systems that can be installed to help fix the problem, but those can be expensive and complicated to install. Unfortunately, unless you are able to find a different water source, your only other alternative is to live with the hard water.
If you do, you should make sure to use the drain valve to clean out sediment from your water heater, and keep an eye on water flow rates at your faucet to make sure that there isn’t a buildup in your pipes.
