If you are getting ready to welcome a new puppy into your home, you will need to puppy-proof your home. Here are a few tips to help you to get ready for your puppy.

The first tip is to remember that puppies chew on everything. With that in mind, make sure all small objects that could be choking hazards are put away. These small items could be jewelry, hair accessories, coins, and paper clips. You will also want to put away all medication that is kept on low tables or countertops. Even if the medication is in a bottle or a pill dispenser, puppies will easily chew through the bottle or pill dispenser.

Another tip is to make sure all electrical cords are out of the reach of the puppy, or in cord concealers. Puppies will also chew on cords, which could cause burns or electrical shock.

The last tip is to secure all trash cans and make sure they have lids. Puppies will be attracted to the garbage smells, and they will try to investigate. You do not want your puppy eating garbage, which may contain poisonous foods for dogs.

These are just a few tips to help you puppy-proof your home and help your home to be ready to welcome your new puppy.
