The next tip is to inspect all your vegetables and fruits that you leave out. If a vegetable or fruit has a small scratch or dent, this could attract fruit flies. Make sure to remember to inspect your fruit bowl too, because there may be a small piece of fruit on the bottom that has started to rot, which will definitely attract fruit flies.
The last tip is to make your own fruit fly trap. You can simply do this by filling a jar or bowl about halfway with apple cider vinegar. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap on top. Then, secure plastic wrap on top with a rubber band. Next, poke small holes into the plastic. The apple cider vinegar will attract the flies, and the dish soap will reduce surface tension so that the flies will not be able to fly back out.
