One thing that a home inspector might look at in your home is whether or not your hot and cold water pipes are insulated. What difference does it make? Well, the answer might differ depending on the climate where you live. In colder weather, there is a risk that uninsulated pipes freeze when the temperatures drop very low. It could also be that it is hot and humid. This could lead to condensation forming on your pipes and if the condensation starts pooling up somewhere, you could be facing water-related damage and issues. If you find that your hot water isn’t as hot as you would like, it could be because it is losing heat over the length of pipe it has to travel, and hot and cold water pipes that are close together could transfer heat leading to your cold water being too warm or your warm water not warm enough.
Looking at that long list, you might want to consider having your pipes insulated. You can obtain pre-shaped insulation that you only need to cut to length and install over your pipes.
