Do you have vinyl siding on your home? The chances are high, since it is among the most common siding materials used here in the States. While vinyl is inexpensive and easy to install, this time of year, you will need to consider one of the shortcomings of vinyl. It can’t handle extreme temperatures very well. If it is very cold out, you need to be careful around your vinyl siding, since it turns brittle in the cold. A hit with a sharp object could very well make a hole or a crack in your siding that will be very unsightly.

Just as cold temperatures are damaging to vinyl, the same is true about high temperatures. A fire pit or grill placed too close to vinyl siding could melt it. The upside is that it is fairly easy to replace one or two panels of your siding and make it look like new again.
