It’s important to have area rugs that define different areas. Without area rugs, your furniture looks like it’s floating. Also. add area rugs in high-traffic locations.
- Too many little things. Another common mistake homeowners make is airing on the side of too much small stuff. For example, large sofas with too many throw pillows, bookshelves, or built-ins with a lot of frames and knickknacks, and crowded sofa tables with small scale objects. It looks better to use fewer big things than a bunch of small ones.
- Skimping on the lighting in your home. Buyers love lots of lighting in a home. Incorporate floor and table lamps to create layers of lighting. Most people place their window treatments two inches above the window trim. But you should hang them two inches from the ceiling instead. This makes the window seem bigger and the room taller.
