When you think of metal roofing, is the first thing that comes to your mind the noise it must make in a rainstorm? If you do, you’re not alone. Many homeowners are scared away from metal roofing thinking that way, but in reality, a metal roof with solid sheathing is not going to be any noisier than any other material used for roofing with the exception of thatched roofing.
Metal roofs can provide great protection for your home, as long as you protect it from things that could cause it to dent and rust. This means that it is a good idea to cut back branches that extend over your roof. They could fall on the roof causing dents, and the constant moisture they supply could lead to rust.
Another good idea is to keep your gutters and downspouts flowing freely. If these get clogged up the water could back up underneath the roofing and cause damage, or it could sit on the roof and lead to rust.
